AMOUNTS & PRICES

AMOUNTS PER BAG:

  • Logs are usually delivered ready-bagged in re-cycled 80 litre plastic sacks, each standing about 2.5 feet (75cm) tall and filled with wood to a depth of about 2 feet (60cm).
  • These weigh about 3-4 stones (20-25kg), and contain roughly 20 to 25 individual pieces of wood.
  • For comparison, they contain about double the amount of wood (in terms of both volume and weight) than the net bags of logs usually found on sale at petrol stations and DIY stores (See picture to the right).

BAGS PER LOAD:

  • The largest load that can usually be delivered in one go is the 'full load' of 28 sacks, which weighs between about 0.66 and 0.75 tons when seasoned (equivalent to about 1 ton when 'green'). This takes up a volume (including air spaces) of just over 2 cubic metres which is equivalent to about 1 cubic metre of solid wood (i.e. with no air spaces).

  • Discounts are given for purchasing amounts of 12 sacks or more, as shown in the guide above
  • Further discounts can be given for purchasing more than two full-loads during the main sales season
  • Out-of-season `Summer Discounts' may also be available during June, July and August

SEASONING, SIZES & SPECIES:

Logs stacked to season over the summerSEASONING:All logs are guaranteed to have been seasoned for at least one summer and wood seasoned for two years or more is usually also available on request.

SIZES: Logs are usually ready-split and generally 2" to 6" in diameter and 8" to 12" in length but can be supplied at any size requested.

SPECIES: Bags and loads of logs for sale generally consist of a mixture of different hardwoods, ash, oak and wych elm making up the bulk of the supply. A range of other broadleaved species may also be available such as beech, birch, sycamore, hawthorn, hazel, maple, cherry and other fruit woods.
